Controlling the Chaos: Part 1

If chaos is a necessary step in the organization of one’s universe, then I was well on my way. ~Wendelin Van Draanen

The In Laws officially have their keys to the Farmhouse! They did something I think is awesome: the first thing they put in the house is the family bible they bought when they were first married.

Now we get to begin organizing and separating everyone’s stuff so that we can move it to the appropriate house. To get an idea of how crazy this is imagine having to play the game traffic jam, where you had to get the red car out by moving all the other cars, but with furniture.

For months we’ve been discussing where everyone is going to sleep, how we are going to store everything, and how we are going to utilize the space to keep family time as the focus. I’m really excited to finally be able to start moving and organizing everything but I’m also anxious about how we’re going to get everything done. My first born nature loves making lists and straightening things up. The Anxiety Dragon in my head is freaking out because there is SO MUCH. WE ARE NEVER GOING TO FINISH SO WE MIGHT AS WELL NEVER START! When those to start fighting it’s a challenge to appreciate any progress we actually make. However, I’ve got some tricks lined up that will hopefully make this process run a lot smoother!

Check back in next week to see what we’ve gotten organized and learn how to use our tricks to help with your next big move!

Introducing the Compounded Family!

Hi!

My name is Leanne Jones and before you get the wrong idea: we are not related to that Jones and this is not that kind of compound.

My family is kind of a unique set up. There’s Robb, my wonderful hubby of 6 years. My Father in law(FIL) and Mother in law (MIL) who own the property we live on. Alisha, my sister in law, and her three kids; The Nephew (G), niece #1 (N) and niece #2 (V).

All 3 generations live are fixing to live on 1 cattle farm with in the next month. Including my nibblings, 5 different generations will have lived on the farm but this is the first time that there have been 3 generations at one time.

My hubby and I will be living in one of the original houses on the property. His grandfather built this house by hand and it is the house my husband grew up in. His parents have been living here since their kids were little and graciously allowed us to move in with them when our housing situation fell through after college. They will be moving into the Farmhouse any week now and alisha and the kids will be moving in with us in the Brickhouse.

I am so excited to see what lies ahead for us as we all learn to live together on The Compound! I hope to share some of the tips and tricks we use to make life easier; from budgeting and organizing, to life hacks and recipes. I want to be able to take everything we do that makes life easier or mistakes we made that will show you what to avoid, and present in a way that teaches you and provides you with a laugh. I may even be able to talk some of the other family members into doing some guest posts too!

See you soon!

Leanne
